My 'no make-up' make-up essentials and how I use them.

Hello my loves
Below are the make-up items i use when achieving a 'no make-up look' ideal for everyday. You are aiming to look 'like you but better' and really all you need are a good base, defined brows and lashes and bit of colour to the cheeks and lips.

The first item is the cosmopolitan perfect blend sponge, which is a more affordable alternative to the beauty blender. You run it under water and squeeze out the excess, then apply your bb cream or foundation using a dabbing motion. The wider side is perfect for cheeks and forehead whilst the pointed side gets in the nooks and crannys such as around the nose and inner corners of the eyes. I love this sponge as it gives a flawless finish and is perfect for dry skin girls in particular because the application method isnt as abrasive as rubbing with fingers or buffing in with a brush.

This bb cream by maybelline has to be the best one i've found, it matches my skintone perfectly, i'm the colour light, and it also has spf 30. The coverage is sheer but just blurs any imperfections and could either be used as a primer under foundation or on its own for daytime. I find the application to be very smooth and it melts into the skin very nicely, and although it is oil free and non-greasy it gives a lovely dewy finish.

I'll move onto the bronzer next which is quite a dark one to say I have fair skin but used sparingly it offers just the right amount of colour for contouring and warming up the face, I use this in the hollows of the cheeks, around the hairline on my forehead and down the sides of my nose. If you have a troublesome chin you can add some to the jawline to create shadow.

Add blush to the highest part of your cheekbones and upto the temples. Commonly we tend to smile and add colour to the apples of the cheeks but when we do this once you stop smiling the colour drops lower on the face which drags the face down and ages you too. Adding the blush to the cheekbone and temples keeps everything 'up' and is a much more youthfull finish. The one i'm using at the moment is No7 in soft apricot, which is actually a much more peachy/rose tone.

When defining my brows I prefer to fill in the gaps I have but still acheive a natural look so I stick to a pencil. The one I use is rimmel brow pencil in dark brown and I use my own eyebrow brush because the one attached to the lid is too hard and brushes the product away. I am planning to get the anastasia brow wiz though as i've heard good things about it.

A highlighter is a good way to add definition and could be used instead of a bronzer for contouring, defining the prominent parts of your face does the same job as adding shadow in the less prominent parts in theory but I like to do both! The one I like is high beam by benefit which is a pinky tone highligher and adds a lovely light catching, dewy effect. I add this to cheekbones, down the centre of the nose and my cupids bow to give an illusion of fuller lips.

My holy grail mascara is the max factor masterpiece in rich black, i've repurchased this over and over and I'm so reluctant to try any other. The formula is really nice, I don't find that it clumps or flakes and it does a great job of separating and lengthening the lashes.

My favourite lipgloss for a natural look is the loreal glam shine in rosewood blush, it has some shimmer in it without being too sparkly for daytime and feels nice on the lips not sticky at all.

If you use any of these products or like any of the tips let me know in the comments. Any blog suggestions are welcome too!

MUA £1 nail polishes

Hello my loves,
As nail polishes go these £1 bargain buys from superdrug are definitely worth a try, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality. I tried the colours lush lilac, frozen yoghurt and bright coral. The shade frozen yoghurt goes on opaque with 2 coats as does bright coral but lush lilac, being a very light colour takes a few more coats to achieve a good finish which is to be expected.
Frozen yoghurt

Bright coral

Lush lilac

The lasting power isn't great but for the price you can't complain and I would say MUA polishes are ideal for any girl who likes to change their nail colour frequently or are looking for a fab nail look for a night out.

Lush Haul

Hello my loves
As anyone who has ever shopped in Lush will know, once is never enough and you quickly develop an addiction to the gorgeous scents and amazing results.
My latest haul:

Full of grace £8.25
Face lotion bar, melts to touch and I used this either under a face mask to further it's benefits, or as a night time treatment/serum. Leaves a film on the skin to begin with but by morning time it vanishes, leaving a good base for the days make up.

Love Lettuce fresh face mask £5.95
This mask is made of all fresh ingredients so has a short life and must be kept in the fridge, it's abit of a downer that it doesn't last so long as I wasted half of it but the upside is it has a lovely cooling effect on the skin and when you wash it off the bits in it gently exfoliate the skin.

Bubblegum Lip Scrub £5.50
The scrub acts to remove dead skin from the lips, leaving a good base for lipsticks too. The smell is gorgeous and it does remove dead skin, my only issue with this is that the scrub that got on the skin around my mouth caused dry patches so I have to be super careful.

H'Suan Wen Hua £8.95
A hair mask dedicated to improving the condition of your hair and adding tonnes of shine and lustre. I wasn't disappointed, you put the mask on dry hair and it's recommended for 20 minutes but I tend to pack it on, pile my hair up and sleep in it..washing it off the next morning. I'm left with healthy feeling hair and the smell which sticks until the next time you wash imo is gorge..cinnamon-y.

I would re-purchase all items except the scrub, purely because of the dryness it caused me around my mouth.

Origins Ginzing Moisturiser Review

Hello my loves,

Origins Ginzing Moisturiser
I was so excited to try this moisturiser after hearing the hype online of its hydrating qualities and energising orange zest scent, but I was left disappointed. I have a dry skintype and the gel consistency did little to alleviate this, it seemed to sink in before it had the time to get to work, I much prefer to feel a cream doing its business.
For the price £23 you do get a nice amount in the tub which would last a long time and I will probably give it to my sister who has more oily/normal skin.
The one massive plus in my view point is the smell! It does smell like pure orange zest and is delish but for my skin type I wouldn't repurchase.

Remington Pearl Curling Wand Review

Hello my loves
Welcome to the first installment on The Beauty Collective, a blog focused on all things beauty and style related.

The Remington pearl curling wand, is a fantastic tool which I can see will quickly overtake my straighteners in the curling stakes and here's why...

Heat settings from 130 degrees to 210 degrees
Temperature lock so it's always on the right heat for you
Heat resistant glove included
Heat resistant pouch for storage/transportation in a hurry
Speedy cool-down
Shut off feature after use (for the forgetful ladies)
Stand (to avoid burnt surfaces)
Slim conical wand allows for ringlets or larger curls depending on the width of hair used.

All in all i was very impressed, my whole head took approximately 30 minutes to curl (wand novice) and my curls even without hairspray stayed pretty defined for quite a few hours, the next morning I still had lovely waves and body!

For the price, £24.93 from Boots, I was super impressed and would definitely recommend the wand to anyone with my length or longer hair.

After brushing the curls through slightly for a more undone, natural look.

Until next time my loves.
